Finding Reading Levels:Many teachers require books at a specific reading level for school assignments. Each school district uses a different leveling system, so ask your teachers which system they use. Check your child's book using these online databases to find the proper level. Remember that leveling systems are computerized and don't take into account appropriate content or your child's interests. When reading levels are not required, children tend to read more and read widely. Ask your librarian for more information about choosing books your child will love!
Accelerated Reader (AR) - Students, teachers, parents, and librarians can search in English or Spanish using criteria such as ATOS book level or a Lexile™ measure, interest level, title, author, fiction/nonfiction, subject, award-winners, state lists, CCSS Exemplars, and more. Guided Reading (Fountas and Pinnell) - Leveled Books Database to search thousands of books leveled for guided reading, Reading Recovery, and Accelerated Reader.
Lexile Measures - All you need is a book’s author, title or ISBN number to find the Lexile text measure of that book, or you can search for book lists by Lexile Measure.
